Hello Folks -
Summer vacations are behind us now in the U.S. and schools are
back in session. This means it's marketing plan season - time to
take a look at this year's plan and begin updating for next
year. Or, if you do not have a marketing plan, begin the
process. Today's issue is packed full of articles to help you
with writing your plan as well as give you ideas for new
marketing programs.
Start with "It's Time for a Marketing Plan Update" by yours
truly and "The Six Important Functions of a Business Plan" by
Michael Brassil. Then move on to Sharon Housley's piece on the
benefits of integrating short term and long term marketing into
your marketing plan (some good examples there, too).
If you are looking for ideas and more information about
marketing programs to include in your marketing plan, have a
look at the articles about:
- how RSS fits into your marketing strategies, including the
relationship between blogs, RSS, e-zines, and e-mail;
- the many advantages of article writing; and
- how to improve your site's organic search engine listings.
I also want to mention the eMarketing Association's sixth annual
conference. It's an excellent way to further your education on a
whole array of online marketing techniques. Seminar speakers
include executives at MSNBC.com, Yahoo! Search Marketing, NSR,
Commission Junction, and many others. It is being held October
18 and 19, 2005 in Boston:

Enjoy!

"The Six Important Functions of a Business Plan"
by Michael Brassil
http://www.websitemarketingplan.com/bplan/functions.htm
Most
small business owners and future entrepreneurs know the importance of
having a business plan. You probably know a sound business plan is
critical when securing financing. You may not realize, however, the
benefits of a business plan expand well beyond that single use. It is
also a critical tool for your use as you develop and grow your business.
Additionally, your marketing plan should be one
component of the business plan.

"Short
Term vs Long Term Marketing Efforts" by Sharon Housley
http://www.websitemarketingplan.com/online/strategy.htm
In order to create consistent sales cycles and a positive
growth trend businesses usually engage in both short and long
term marketing efforts. The article explains the differences
between and gives examples of each.
"Article Writing Made Simple" by Caroline Jordan
http://www.websitemarketingplan.com/online/writing.htm
A great way for self employed professionals
to enhance their reputations is to write articles. But for many, the
thought of writing an article calls to mind your school days of
struggling to write a composition, trapped indoors while your friends
played baseball without you. But, article writing doesnt have to be
difficult and the rewards are great.
"Defining the Relations Between Blogs, E-zines, RSS and
E-mail" by Rok Hrastnik
http://www.websitemarketingplan.com/online/rss2.htm
Although RSS and blogs are slowly reaching mainstream, they
are still misunderstood by most marketers in relation to each
other and in relation to their relatives, e-zines and e-mail.
How do these four really relate and what does this mean for your
internet marketing strategy? The
article explains.
