Hello All -

No, your eyes aren't deceiving you, the newsletter *does* look different today.
:-)

I've gotten feedback that the format I have used recently is a bit cumbersome for getting to the articles, etc. So, I am trying this format.

The email versions contain links to every article/resource mentioned in the newsletter. Please let me know what you think by sending me a quick email:

If you like this format: ThumbsUp@WebSiteMarketingPlan.com or
If you don't like it: ThumbsDown@WebSiteMarketingPlan.com
(Thank you.).

The articles.

Last week, http://www.websitemarketingplan.com/NewsletArch/newsletter092303.htm , I published two of the first four articles on how to match Website content to a visitor's decision making stage.

The final two are in this week's issue...

Part 2 of my "Reach Your Website Marketing Goals" article gives ideas for attracting the right visitors.

"Helping Consumers Navigate the eCommerce Forest" by John Staubly gives you nine tips for designing a site that "closes the sale".

Problems with Merchant Account reseller.

I recently had some issues with a Merchant Account reseller. They were hiding fees - nearly $300 worth - and balked at returning my "set-up" fee when I decided not to apply for the account. Read more about it under the Take-Payments-Online.com update section.

Enjoy,
Bobette

 Update: Take-Payments-Online.com , ECommerce Explained.
I have made progress on my new Take-Payments-Online.com Website.

The Internet Merchant Account section now explains advantages and disadvantages to having your own Merchant Account; fees to look out for; and where to start looking for a good Merchant Account.

Read it here, at
http://www.take-payments-online.com/InternetMerchantAccount.html

Recently, I also had a bit of a confrontation with a Merchant Account reseller. They had some undisclosed fees I didn't like, so I asked for a refund of my 'set-up' fee. They said "No go" even though I hadn't even submitted an application.

I came away from the experience with a list of questions you can ask a potential provider. These are in the article as well.

Helping Consumers Navigate the eCommerce Forest. Nine design tips to help turn browsers into buyers.
By John Staubly, Creative Director Channel Intelligence, Inc.

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, online consumer sales in 2002 topped $45.5 billion dollars, an increase of more than 30 percent over the previous year.

While many people look at those figures and be impressed, especially in this economy, John can’t help but wonder "What if online sellers made it easier for consumers to actually purchase products from them?"

He gives nine ways you can do just that.

About the Author

John Staubly is Creative Director of Channel Intelligence, Inc., http://www.channelintelligence.com/, a company that develops services that improve the online and offline sales process between manufacturers, dealers, and consumers. These services, which are becoming an industry standard, allow manufacturers and dealers to capture incremental sales, maintain margins, reduce shopping cart abandonment, and refine product flow through the channel, all the while improving the shopping experience for the customer.
