Hello Folks - There seems to be much controversy over what marketing is and is not, so I was thrilled to learn the following definition of marketing while attending Philip Kotler's Marketing for Results seminar last month in New York: "Creating, communicating and delivering value to a target market profitably." This definition succinctly encompasses the idea that marketing must simultaneously focus on the customer and add value to the company. It also reflects my own position on marketing's definition (but in a much more eloquent fashion). Read "The Definition of Marketing. Has It Changed?" for more definitions and my thoughts on the subject. Dr. Kotler's seminar also sparked a few new thoughts about online marketing techniques. As you develop your Website or online marketing plan for next year, have a look at "7 Ideas For Increasing Your Online Marketing Presence" for some ideas about how you might expand your online marketing strategies and programs. Finally, if you are like me and already have a Website (or several Websites), this is the time of year when people start asking about the specifics of getting a Website designed and running.
