About Bobette Kyle
In 2000, I voluntarily abandoned a lucrative corporate life in favor of a freelance career (See the experience and education page for more details.). I live near St. Louis, Missouri with my significant other, Tim.
I have more than 20 years of experience in Corporate Marketing; Brand and Product Marketing; Field Marketing and Sales; and Management. My varied positions included V.P. of Marketing for Delicious Brands, Inc., Director of NA Marketing Services for Quest International, and Marketing Manager for Nestlé NA’s Sunmark Division.
Having worked for companies ranging in size from a few employees to multi-billion dollar organizations, I intensely prefer a small company environment where things can get done quickly, with fewer approvals and less CYA. Before working for Nestlé, I received my MBA (Marketing Emphasis) from Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis.
This Website and the book How Much for Just the Spider? Strategic Website Marketing for Small-budget Businesses were my first products in my quest to help businesses include the Internet in their overall marketing strategies. I later set up an umbrella company — Web Marketing Place LLC — where I occasionally consult (but am usually too busy with other projects to take on new clients).
Those other projects include MY LIFE MATTERS; Personal Planner for Women (which I cofounded with two wonderful women, to help other women feel empowered and in control of their whole lives) MyOnlineWeddingHelp.com (to help engaged couples make better use of online wedding resources).
What I read to learn. I manage my own finances, so I like to read Money and Kiplinger magazines. My browser home page is set to WSJ.com. My office bookcases are filled mostly with marketing books and popular business. I also have several books on writing along with the mandatory dictionaries, thesauri, and style guides. Then there’s that section on poker and card counting…
What I read to relax. A LOT of things. I have an ongoing subscription to booksfree.com, and have read all of the books by Stephen King, Anne Rice, John Grisham, Sarah Paretsky, Clive Barker, Sue Grafton, Dean Koontz, Michael Crichton, and a boatload of others.
My favorite city. Chicago, IL (Not that I’ve been to many for any length of time.). Now that I think about it, maybe it’s Las Vegas, but I wouldn’t want to live there.
Those who intrigue me. People who have created cultural/business empires through talent, strategic thinking, and hard work – Sam Walton (WalMart), Gene Roddenbury (Star Trek), Bill Gates (Microsoft), and Heidi Klum (Executive Producer and Victoria’s Secret super model).
My favorite quote/saying. Success is a journey, not a destination.
