2007 Super Bowl Commercials
Super Bowl XLI advertisers are hard at work producing commercials for the February 4, 2007 Super Bowl. Most notably, advertisers are recognizing the growing consumer demand for interactivity by getting consumers and viewers involved in this year’s Super Bowl ads.
Chevrolet is sponsoring the Chevy College Ad contest. Teams of full-time college students have the chance to enter their own ad concept. The winning team will be involved with the commercial’s production (deadline for entry has passed).
Frito-Lay is inviting people to submit commercials for a chance to have their’s used in the Doritos Super Bowl spot. In conjunction, Yahoo! Video is going to provide a section for contestants to share their entries. Doritos will pick the top five and visitors to Yahoo! Video will get to vote for their favorite (I’d tell you the deadline for submission, but all I see on the rules page is black screen with a few stripes
).
Even the NFL itself is getting involved. During November and December the NFL will be accepting pitches for the best Super Bowl commercial ever. Contestants can pitch their idea in New York (Giants Stadium) on 11/17 & 11/18; Dallas (Texas Stadium) on 12/1 & 12/2 and Denver (Invesco Field) on 12/8 & 12/9. NFL fans will get to vote for the winner. More specifics will be available in late October.
