I figure price is determined upfront when the ad is committed to, same as any other ad spot (negotiated contracts, commercials priced according to commercial length and placement within game, or various sponsorships pricing). The real-time theory is interesting. With today's technology it's probably doable from the CBS stamdpoint, but could be a hard sell to the advertisers, who generally like to know how much they are paying -- and what kind of placement they are getting -- before the fact.</description>

I watched the SuperBowl with friends and we debated the process of placing commercials on SuperBowl day. One theory suggetsed the Neilsen ratings were reviewed real time, as the game progressed, thereby dictating fluctuating pricing. We debated whether or not the extent of increased or decreased viewership, as the game plaayed out, had any 'real time' effect on when and at what cost, commercial ads were finally broadcasted. 
The alternate theory suggestsed ads are placed, in the order the ad is logged with the CBS network and, therefore, the costs are applied at the same rate? 
I look forward to your explanation and kind repy.
