Gwen Elliott Relief Fundraiser

Filed under: Uncategorized, Website Marketing Plan Newsletter — Bobette Kyle @ 4:04 pm

I usually don’t post this type of request, but I hope all of you will understand and know that I don’t do this lightly. Gwen Elliott, a member of the “Bold Biz Babes” (a small, online business group I’ve been a member of since 2003), lost her 10-year-old son and all of her belongings in a house fire on June 15. She had no insurance on the house, so has lost everything. She is now living alone in a nearly bare apartment. Gwen is a VA, so to top it all off has lost a lot of income while she’s been unable to work. We “Babes” are gathering product and service donations from businesses and colleagues to resell on the www.Help-Gwen-Elliott.com website. All proceeds go to Gwen to help get her back on her feet. [I know this last part for a fact, since I’m in charge of the checking account and finances! :-)] The Babes are a nationwide group, so this is a nationwide effort.

If any of you are in a position to donate anything, we’d really appreciate it. Tangible goods are great, but donations don’t have to be tangible. I’ve donated a How to Choose a Wedding Veil & Headpiece That Will Look Stunning on YOU!” e-book from MyOnlineWeddingHelp.com and a month of advertising space on the WebsiteMarketingPlan.com home page (which will be sold in the advertising opportunities section after we enter the “selling” stage). Another woman gave a gift certificate for $50 in services.

There is more information on the www.Help-Gwen-Elliott.com Website — including more about Gwen’s tragedy — plus a donation form here: http://www.help-gwen-elliott.com/donate-product.htm.

There is a contact form here if you have any questions.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Bobette Kyle

My very skilled VA — Terry Green — has motivated me to make a final 2006 post on this New Year’s Eve by tagging me in her Farewell to 2006! I’ve been tagged? blog post. I’d never heard of this, but I’m game and it’s fun reading everyone’s 5 things. (Terry, no I didn’t know you adopted a son in Korea!)

So here we go…

1. I was the first in my family to go to college.
2. My husband and I went out nearly 22 years before we married in February 2006.

3. I use my last names interchangeably — Kyle, Kyle-Wagner, Wagner

4. I have a full room of oddball collectibles — Wheaties boxes; Star Trek figures and toys; Starting Lineup figures; comic books and other misc.

5. I love fiction novels — read at least one a week — but usually can’t tell you what one’s about a day after finishing.

Here’s a bonus thing just for Denise Aday. I have another mascot she can have to complete a threesome (Not reallly. We love our demon…most of the time. See her darling antics below.)

Some small business people I admire and would like to know more about are…

Bill Collier (newest — and extremely welcome member of the St. Louis Publishers Association board), fellow Bold Biz Babe Polly Schlafhauser, and fellow High Rankings forum moderators Scottie Claiborne and Michael Motherwell (actually, Scottie’s a hard-working admin).
